Anyone who has the Japanese amiibo cards for New Leaf can already do this by them at Harv's island in New Horizons, and those who don't own these packs should still be able to access the Sanrio furniture and clothing items by trading with players who have them. Scanning the amiibo cards also allows players to access Sanrio poster items under the Posters tab in Nook Shopping. The 1.9 update releases March 18 and must be downloaded to unlock these new features, which include six new, Sanrio-themed Animal Crossing villagers to live with players on their islands. This is the first time Nintendo is offering the Animal Crossing Sanrio amiibo cards in the United States, although the crossover was originally released in Japan for Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Nintendo 3DS.
